Wisconsin Bookworms
Wisconsin Bookworms is a reading program that encourages development of reading skills and helps prepare children for a life-long love of reading. It provides free books and an early reading experience for children from limited income families.
Fond du Lac County HCE became part of the Wisconsin Bookworms program in 2000. A total of 168 children ages 3-5 in the Head Start program in Fond du Lac County are visited seven times during the school year by volunteers who read the “book of the month”, do an activity that pertains to the story, and give each child a FREE copy of the book to take home to create their own home library. Warm homemade fleece mittens are given to them at the December reading. We appreciate our amazing volunteers who help with this program.
Book Club
All members are invited to participate in a Book Club that began in 2017. Meetings are usually held monthly at a local restaurant where good food and fellowship are enjoyed while discussing the book.
