We’re so glad you are interested in our Adams County Home and Community Education (HCE) Association. Adams County currently has three clubs and approximately 75 members. There are nearly 2,900 members statewide.
Wisconsin Extension Homemakers had its beginnings in the 1930’s to provide members an opportunity to learn and keep up-to-date in areas relating to home and family, to learn about their community and carry out programs that may improve the community and to share in the good fellowship and friendliness of the organization.
Today the reasons given to become a member of HOME AND COMMUNITY EDUCATION are similar with some world focus included:
- social advantages of belonging, being useful and needed;
- fellowship to renew old friends and make new ones;
- educational advantages of people building – we are life-long learners, never too old to learn something new;
- leadership in helping to choose the paths of tomorrow;
- citizenship where we dare to make our local communities a better place; and
- world citizenship where we support endeavors all over the world to improve their homes and communities from teaching skills to improved water supplies!
Membership
The local clubs are located throughout the County and are open to anyone who is interested, regardless of race, color, creed, religion, sex, age, handicap or national origin. It is not necessary to be female, married or to live within the County where the club originates.
The clubs in Adams county have from six to forty members, but an individual club may begin with only two members and can grow to any size. Generally, the meetings are held once a month, either in homes of members on a rotating basis, or in area public building meeting rooms such as town halls, churches, etc. Some of the clubs do not hold regular meetings during the summer months but that decision is left to the individual clubs.
Individual Membership
Persons who would like to receive the educational lessons offered through HCE but feel they do not have the time to attend monthly club meetings may join HCE as an INDIVIDUAL MEMBER.
