Sauk County HCE Scholarships

Sauk County Association for Home and Community Education (HCE) (formerly Extension Homemakers) has three $600 scholarships available to Sauk County high school or college students.  Applicants must be Sauk County Residents.  High school students must attend a Sauk County high school.  All applicants must be a child, grandchild, sibling, niece or nephew of a Sauk County HCE member.

To apply, students must submit the application form plus a written statement of about one page, refer to the Sauk County HCE Scholarship Instructions document for more information.

In addition, applicants need to request three letters of recommendation from a combination of teachers, employers (paid or unpaid), adult leaders of extracurricular activities or an adult of the applicant’s choice.  These letters of recommendation must be emailed or sent by USPS directly to the Scholarship Chairperson.  These letters of recommendation will hold less weight with the Scholarship Committee if they are not sent directly to the Scholarship Chairperson.

Sauk County HCE Scholarship Instructions

  1. Complete the applicable Application Form
    1. Application for High School Students– -Have your Student Services Department or Principal sign your application verifying your rank in class and GPA.
    2. Application Form for College Students
  2. Compose and print you written application statement. It should be about one page long and address these four topics:
    1. What you have accomplished so far in terms of academics, extracurricular activities and community service
    2. Why you plan to attend college (or continue attending), what major you are interested in and why you think this field is a good match for your personal qualities, abilities and interests.
    3. What your ideal entry level position in this field would be and where you see yourself on the career ladder five to ten years after college graduation.
    4. What past, present and future sources of financing your college education you have planned.
  3. Send your application form and your written application statement to the Scholarship Chairperson, Janet Hanson, E9237 County Road O, Sauk City, WI   Or you may email these to Tonya Anderson, Tonya@atanderfarms.com
  4. Give the Request for Letter of Recommendation Form to three adults. They may be teachers, employers (paid or unpaid), leaders of extracurricular activities or adults of your choice.  These adults are to email or send their Letter of Recommendations by USPS, DIRECTLY to the Scholarship Chairperson:

Your Letters of Recommendation will hold less weight with the Scholarship Committee if they are not sent DIRECTLY to the Scholarship Chairperson.

  1. Your complete application is due on/before March 10. You will be notified when all five parts of your completed application have been received.  (The five parts are your application form, written statement and the three letters of recommendation.)

  3. The Scholarship Committee will meet in the second half of March and as soon as the three recipients have been chosen, you will be notified if you are one of the recipients or not.
